As the second densest of all elements and with a melting point of 2446°C, iridium has excellent high temperature properties and mechanical strength. In certain applications it can be used unprotected in air at temperatures over 2000°C. At these temperatures it also has an outstanding resistance to a variety of salts and oxides and is unaffected by common mineral acids and aqua regia.
Using these properties of Iridium we provide:
